Calling all 1st Herne Bay Beavers! It’s time to grab your binoculars (or your best “eagle eyes”) because the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is almost here.

We want to see our colony helping out our feathered friends and discovering the amazing wildlife living in our gardens and parks. Whether you’re a bird expert or just starting out, there’s a way for everyone to get involved.

The RSPB Garden Birdwatch Bag

We’ve put together a digital “Birdwatch Bag” right here on the website! You can find everything you need to take part, from bird ID sheets to tally charts.

  • Earn Your Badges: Head over to our All about badges page to download the home challenge packs and spotter sheets.
  • Get Crafty: Check out the Crafting Corner for RSPB-themed activities. We’ve got colouring pictures, paper plate birds and speedy bird cakes to hang in the garden – encouraging more birds to drop by!

How to Join In

  1. Download your spotter sheet from our website.
  2. Spend an hour watching the birds in your garden or at the local park.
  3. Tell us what you saw! We’d love to see photos of your bird-watching setups or your finished crafts.
  4. Upload your result to www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch by 22 February. This helps the RSPB to build a better picture on how Britain’s garden birds are doing this year.
